Coupon Help Guide
Below we have created a small guide on how to create promotion codes for your business.
We have found that these are great for:
- Special offers
- Seasonal sales
- First-time customer incentives
- Loyalty rewards
1. Where to Find Promotion Codes
- Go to the Payments section
- Click on “Promotions”
- Select “+ New Promotion”
2. Creating a Promotion Code
- Click “+ Add Coupon”
- Fill in the following:
- Coupon Name – For your own reference (e.g. “SpringOffer”)
- Code – This is what the customer will type in (e.g. SPRING20)
- Type of Discount – Choose between:
- Fixed Amount (£) off
- Percentage (%) off
- Discount Value – E.g. £10 or 15%
- Limit Usage – Optional (e.g. limit to 1 use per customer)
- Set Expiry Date – Optional, great for flash sales or promotions
3. Click Save.
3. Using the Promotion Code
Promotion codes can be applied in two ways:
a) On Checkout Pages (Payment Links / Order Forms)
- When a customer is purchasing, they’ll see a “Promo Code” box
- They enter the code (e.g. SPRING20), and the discount is applied instantly
b) Manually (Inside Invoices)
If you’re creating an invoice manually, you can:
- Add the item(s)
- Then apply a discount manually (promotion codes won’t apply automatically here, but you can match the discount)
4. Tracking Promotion Code Usage
To see how a promotion code is performing:
- Go back to the Promotions list
- Click on the promotion name
- View:
- Number of times used
- Value of discounts given
- Which contacts used it (if applicable)
Quick Tips
- Use simple codes (e.g. WELCOME10, SAVE15) for easier customer use
- Set expiry dates to encourage quicker action
- Combine with email or SMS campaigns to boost visibility
- Use different codes for different campaigns so you can track which offers perform best.
- Make sure there is a limit set on the coupons, to stop abuse.
- Test the code before sharing it publicly to ensure it works properly
